I had a phone call from the lovely Sarah at The Salvation Army who are holding a fashion event for freshers and students on Monday 14th September. The event will include yours truly styling some student models in clothing from the stores and then all week, students will receive 20% OFF all their purchases, including clothing, furniture etc. It should be a great event and it's for a good cause!

New erotica...
While I was waiting for my pal Flo to come over to watch some DVDs and eat copious amounts of junk, I was watching some old episodes of Dragon's Den. I couldn't believe it when in amongst the home alarm systems and daft novelty bedspreads, there was fashion designer Victoria McGrane from Neurotica. Last year, she had a diffusion range in Topshop from which I bought a really nice stretchy tshirt dress, so it was nice to be reminded of the brand and to be motivated to see what her current collection looks like. She came across really well, and I was so glad when she was given money by the dragons to help with the very diffusion range that featured my dress. The sad panda sweatshirt and the agressive bambi boyfriend tee are my favourites.

Online Stalking...
Now it is no secret that I enjoy stalking people online. These people can range from my mates on myspace, to celebs' websites and blogs.
When I was googling the names of this year's Project Runway finalists, I was actually looking for their personal myspace profiles, so I could add them to my own. Sad, I know. Anyway, what I actually found was their official websites....and online shops!
In order of PR Placement:
2. Korto Momolu
Now, I wasn't particularly enamored with Korto's work throughout the show...it was nice and well made, but just wasn't to my taste at all. I am more interested to see what Leanne and crazy cat-throwing Kenley have to offer now the show is finished.
On Kenley's website, there are some pleasing, but predicatable retro styled images, with more headgear in the form of feathered hair clips than clothing. I do remember this dress that Kenley wore on the show from time to time and I would love to own it. I love the feathered sleeves and the floral fabric.
In stark contrast to Kenley's low-design, self-build website, Leanne's slick, flash affair shows that she has been putting that prize money to work already! Looking at her collections from before the show, especially her S/S 08, I have a feeling that I will love just about everything this woman does!
I then found a link to Leanne's blog.
I was disgusted to read that the college where she studied fashion design bought her PR collection in auction and then proceeded to hold a fashion show under Leanne's name without involving her at all. They then styled her collection horribly, and basically made out to the awaiting audience that she was a no-show at the event! Shocking! I was also gutted to read that Leanne, and the rest of the PR contestants are contractually obliged not to recreate any of their designs from the show. Ever. This means that I will never own one of Leanne's fabulous petal skirts. This of course means that I will have no other option but to attempt my own DIY version. Oh dear.
